Centuries ago, the Yao borrowed the dragon design from Yunnan.
The motif evokes the primordial ancestor Panhu, a man-dog-dragon.
Shaman dragon head bracelets were made by Hmong and Mien (Yao) people and worn by Lahu, Akha and Lisu men of the Golden Triangle.
Some of these bracelets, made in the 18th century, were enamelled in the 19th century.
