Antique silver hirz necklace from Nizwa, Oman, adorned with embossed details, fringes, and its original chain in very good condition.
Quran boxes, or hirz in Arabic, are generally amulets containing a verse from the Quran.
These boxes are considered talismans. In times of illness, they are believed to possess prophetic powers.
The hirz necklace was worn throughout Oman, by both children and adults.
