Necklace composed of carnelian beads from the North African and trans-Saharan sphere, late 19th – early 20th century. Set of elongated fusiform beads with longitudinal facets, hand-cut and shaped according to an Indian cutting tradition (Gujarat region). Natural orange-red tones with visible internal inclusions and color variations. Surfaces show wear, small impact marks and patina consistent with age and use. Beads separated by knots in a traditional stringing method. Metal clasp added later. Female adornment integrated into North African ornamental traditions and trans-Saharan trade networks.
