Set of seven antique rigid bracelets made of black horn inlaid with twisted silver wire using a traditional hot-inlay method.
Known as rsuq mersuse, these ornaments were traditionally worn stacked in high numbers by Saharan women (Mauritania, Mali), especially during ceremonies.
Handcrafted by nomadic or settled silversmiths, the bracelets feature linear ornamental motifs applied with heated tools. This set reflects ritual and identity functions in Saharan societies and parallels pieces in the Musée du quai Branly and the National Museum of Nouakchott.
