Antique Moroccan tribal silver bracelet originating from the oasis region of the Bani and the Drâa valley in southern Morocco, in the area of Tata and Akka.
This piece belongs to the Amazigh tradition of rigid silver bracelets known as aduwirs, characteristic ornaments worn by women of the pre-Saharan regions located between the Anti-Atlas mountains and the northern fringes of the Sahara.
The bracelet is crafted from high-grade silver and displays a decorative structure composed of alternating repoussé domed elements framed by finely engraved vegetal and geometric motifs. The background fields are textured by punching and chiseling techniques, creating a dense ornamental surface typical of southern Moroccan silverwork. The borders are finished with engraved zig-zag patterns commonly observed in bracelets produced in the oasis networks of the Drâa valley and the Bani region.
Bracelets of this type formed part of the traditional adornment of Amazigh women belonging to tribal groups such as the Aït Atta and Aït Ouaouzguite, who inhabited the oasis territories of southern Morocco. In these societies, silver jewelry functioned not only as ornament but also as a form of portable wealth and social identity.
The piece presents an authentic surface patina and traces of use consistent with traditional Amazigh jewelry from the pre-Saharan Moroccan regions.
A characteristic example of Amazigh silver craftsmanship from the oasis cultures of southern Morocco.
